No Time to Cook?

Let’s face it - most of us struggle with time. As kids, time seemed to be the only thing we had plenty of … so much so that we often got bored. Now, boredom is but a distant dream as our responsibilities, chores, and other daily tasks consume larger and larger amounts of our day. Unfortunately, between scheduling conflicts with kids’ activities, overtime at work, and figuring out when to get the laundry finished, meals often get overlooked.

Be honest. How many times a week do you find yourself stopping by a fast food place or ordering out as a quick-fix option for dinner or lunch? Once a week? Twice? More?

Don’t be ashamed. Most of us have done this a time or two. It speaks to our chaotic lives more than anything. After all, who doesn’t enjoy a good, home-cooked meal bursting with deliciousness? Unfortunately, such meals take time that can be hard to find.

That’s why we’d like to support a local business that’s trying to help. Vital Fit Meals offers healthy options that are prepared by the award-winning chef, Adam Hegsted. He tries to use as much local and seasonal produce as possible. Their meals are packaged and will remain fresh for up to 7 days when refrigerated or 3 months if frozen.

How does it work? Vital Fit Meals is set up as a subscription service that covers all of Spokane County. For those outside the county, contact them directly to find out what other options they have. You choose the plan that fits your needs and select the meals that you want. Then, the meals are either delivered or can be picked up every Sunday (if orders are placed before 7 pm on the Wednesday before). There are vegetarian options, vegan options, and various sizing options. All nutritional information and ingredients are listed online.

Think about it … how amazing would it be to come home after a long day at work, gather your family together, and enjoy a home-cooked meal … that you didn’t have to cook? It’s a fast, healthy alternative to the fast food that has become so commonplace in our lives.
