Health is more than just cholesterol levels, weight, and proper medications.  Our mental health has a significant impact on our physical health.  Things like anxiety, depression, stress, and even loneliness can affect how our body works, how it heals, and how likely it is to become ill.

Many of us don't consider how our lives - the chaos of after school activities, overtime at work, and even clutter in the home - influence our health.  If our minds are in a negative space, our bodies will soon follow.  In these instances, many of us only treat the body's reaction, which is a symptom of the mind's health, when trying to heal.

But how can we expect our bodies to heal when our minds are still ill?

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), mental health is defined as a state of well-being in which every individual realizes his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community.

Below, we examine some of the illnesses that affect our mental health as well as ways you can create happiness in your life by taking control of your mental health.

Healthy Mind, Healthy Body

Our minds are just as important as our bodies and deserve the same amount of focus, care, and concern.  In these articles, we will explore the ways that you can improve your mind-body connection and create more happiness in your life.
